#3 2024
New Year's resolutions are not for everyone, but after a challenging year, I decided to make some changes. I've collected some tips that might help you too!
I get it if New Year's resolutions aren't your thing. After all, if we want to change something, we don't necessarily need to wait for a specific time of the year, right? However, since this year was a bit tough for me, I decided to use this opportunity.
Obviously, it won’t be my first try to a fresh start. Changing habits it's not easy. We start the year all pumped up and then as days turn into weeks, our motivation gets weaker, life gets busier, and our goals... they somehow start to fade.
But if you are thinking of giving it another try like me, I've got some tips that recently I have collected and might just do the trick for you too!
Step one - :)
Often, we are so focused on the things we want to do, that we sometimes forget to celebrate our victories from the past year. For example, grab your journal and look back month by month (or check your iPhone gallery 🤫 ) at all the amazing things you've accomplished, the challenges you've overcome, and the moments that made you smile and proud.
It gives me such a warm and fuzzy feeling, acknowledging all the hard work I put into myself, and it's just the perfect boost of motivation I need!
Step two - Mini goals, they sound less scary.
After you’re all hyped up by all the amazing things you did last year, set your new mini-goals. I've decided to set quarterly goals, which seem more achievable and realistic. For example, my long-term goal is to learn a new language. I've scheduled Q1 to complete a beginner's course, Q2 to improve speaking and listening, Q3 to focus on grammar and writing, and Q4 to polish my skills and pass an exam.
Four - PLAN THIS THING!!!
December is the perfect time to plan so you can keep your goals front and center. For example, I've been planning to read more books, at least once a month. So, what did I do? I've put together a list of all the books I want to read in 2024, complete with Amazon links for each. Now, I have very little excuse not to buy them at the end of the month.
You can apply this strategy to many other plans - just make sure you're ready and no extra work is needed to get started! Do all the dirty work in December!
Step five (5) - help your memory out!
It's natural for us to forget about our goals among the daily distractions of life. Sometimes, we don't achieve what we set out to, not because we're inconsistent or lack self-control, but simply because we forget.
A vision board or a simple list can be a great way to keep your goals in sight. It could be digital or physical, anything that works for you.
But remember, a vision board isn't about sticking a picture of money and waiting for it to roll in. It is about making sure you remember what you planned for your life this year, so you can take steps towards it.
And last but not least, remember to enjoy the journey. Make sure you give yourself enough credits and… reward yourself!! Give yourself a nice massage every month, a day in the Spa after every quarter, or any other pleasant experience to treat yourself well. Plan it in your calendar. Take time to take care of your mind and body!
And don’t forget that even on your worst days, every small step you take towards your dream life counts, and no one can take that away from you!
So, let's make the most of it, shall we?
I wish you a Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and fruitful planning of 2024!!!
xx
