Skin Cycle, Workout Cycle and Hormones
Slight delay with this month's newsletter… Getting back to the routine, especially after lots of traveling, isn't easy. Apologies, but let's dive into this month's topics!
Cycles. They seem to be popping up everywhere these days. However, some of them are definitely worth a peek!
Let's talk about the SKIN CYCLE. Now, I'd bet most of you have probably heard about this on social media. I've been digging into it for some time now, listening to experts, and even giving it a try myself. It's definitely something to consider! But remember, if your skin is a bit on the sensitive side, you might need to adjust it a little. In the typical skin cycle, you'll find days of exfoliation, followed by retinol and then two recovery days. That might sound a bit too intense for sensitive skin types, right? So, why not consider gentle skin cycling instead? After exfoliating, give your skin two days to rest and then apply the retinol. Follow this with at least two recovery days before you exfoliate again. You can read more here: CLICK. Let me know how it works for you! :)
Next up, we have the CYCLE-BASED WORKOUT. This is a trendy topic and involves aligning your workout routine with your natural hormonal cycle. Ever since I've tried it, I feel so much more at ease. No more forcing myself to exercise when I just don't feel up to it, no more guilt, and no more body checks. Now, I listen to my body and we work together. I can tell when it's time for a tough workout and when a more relaxing yin yoga session is in order. If you find it hard to decide what to do and what type of workout would be beneficial, the app, HARNA, is essentially all about providing you with the perfect plan synchronized with your cycle.
Last but certainly not least, we have HORMONES. Since we're on the topic of menstrual cycles, some women might find it hard to feel any cyclical symptoms if they're on hormonal contraception. Personally, I'm not a fan of hormones. After a two-year struggle to get my period back post-hormonal birth control, I've sworn it off for good. After seeing multiple doctors, a dear friend (thank you Love, I know you’re reading it 🫰🏻)recommended the book "The Period Manual" by Laura Briden. I have eaten it in a day and started applying its advice the next. Just two months later, my normal period returned. Now, I can feel my body's changes throughout the month, which helps me understand when to go all out and when to take a break. This connection gives me such a sense of feminine power and allows me to tune in with myself like never before.
All girls, please put your hormonal health on a high-priority list and you won't regret it. Take care of your body as it does incredible work every day!! Treat the hormones well, they are our friends and guidance.
Thank you for reading it through! Today, for the last day of November, I am more than ready to step into December with a lot of feminine energy.
I wish you an amazing month!
Have a great life, and talk to you soon. xx
Emazed recommendation:
Currently, I am reading... Czestotliwosc Serca by Iliana Ramírez Rangel. I couldn't find an English version of this book, but it talks about curanderos: healers in Latin American cultures who use natural and spiritual practices to heal, they also work with energy. I found it pretty inspiring.
I am currently listening to... Cozy Christmas Jazz on Spotify 😀 It is all about Christmas now!
YouTube channel I am subscribed to... Jillz Guelin. She talks a lot about feminine energy, and improving your life as a woman. She is definitely not scared to be girly. I love it.
Podcast I have been listening to... Something very useful to start your hormone regulation journey - “Balancing Hormones Naturally” by Leah Brueggemann.
